When Anxiety becomes too much

Life gets loud, and your mind gets louder

Find clarity peace and tools to cope

Anxious Overthinking

Rumination, worry loops, and the mind that replays every conversation long after it's over.

OCD

Intrusive thoughts and the checking, reassurance, and mental review that follow.  Treated with ERP.

Rejection sensitivity

When a small sign of disapproval lands like a verdict, and one comment can sink a whole day.

The stuck place

When it has to be perfect, so it never starts - and not starting becomes its own weight.

How we can help

IS THIS YOU?

You know this feeling; you already sent the text, and you're still writing a better one in your head.

You didn't do the thing because you couldn't do it perfectly.

The thought comes.  You know it isn't true. You believe it anyway and act upon that thought.

You check, research, confirm, and you feel better for a minute.  The thought returns anyway.

Your mind talks all day.  The hard part isn't the noise - it's that you believe what it says.

The Work

What we do together

The goal isn't a quiet mind.  Most minds don't go quiet, and chasing quiet often makes more noise. The goal is to stop the noise from running your life.

We work on living alongside your thoughts - instead of fighting them or doing what they say.  Over time, a scary thought can show up, and you can let it pass without the whole day bending around it.

I use approaches with strong research behind them, including exposure and response prevention (ERP) for OCD.  Everything moves at a pace you agree to.  Nothing gets sprung on you.

From the outside, life looks fine, inside it feels different

You might relate if you:

  • Overthink decisions long after they're made.
  • Replay conversations and worry that you said the wrong thing.
  • Feel pressure to get everything right.
  • Struggle with perfectionism and fear of failure.
  • Feel mentally exhausted even when life looks good.
  • Delay decisions out of fear of regretting them later.
  • Feel responsible for everything and everyone.

This is often called high-functioning anxiety.

And it's more common than you think.

About Lisa J. Kahn, LCSW, MSW

My Philosophy

I believe therapy should feel like a place you want to come back to - a space where you can slow down, feel genuinely understood, and begin to move forward.  Not by waiting until the anxiety quiets, but by learning to take the next step while it's still loud.

My role is to be a steady guide while you build those tools.

The next step is reachable.
